Digital Printing vs. Screen Printing

Here in the Paddock we use a process called Digital Garment Printing.  We have what looks like an inkjet printer on steroids.  The shirts, hair ties, pillowcases, (anything flat) go into the printer on a big arm called a platen.  Ink is applied directly into the fabric, much as an ink jet printer applies ink directly to the printed page.  This allows the ink to become a part of the fabric.  In the screen printing process, the ink is applied to the top of the fabric and sits "up" on the fabric. 

One benefit of our printing process is that the design will never "crack" or peel off.  It is actually in the fabric.  The downside is that we can not print light colors on dark fabrics.  Because the ink is down in the fabric, it would not be seen if you printed (for example) pink onto black.  We need to use a darker color ink than fabric!

A second benefit is that we are not limited to a certain number of colors.  Just as an inkjet printer does, we can print 100s of colors at once and can print any design or picture that you can think of!  As long as it's in a digital file with a decent resolution, we can usually make it work!  Printing on sleeves is also available!!

Personalized Hair Ties

Are you a fan of the elasticized hair ties that are also fun to wear on your wrist?  The Plaid Paddock is offering personalized hair ties!  You can choose the color of your hair tie and the text to go on it!  The options are endless - school spirit, sorority sisters, favorite sport, or how about your name so that you always know which hair tie belongs to you.

Pricing depends on the number of hair ties ordered.  

1-5  $5 each

6-10  $4 each

11+ $3 each

This is due to the time and precision that goes in to printing! Hair ties make a great fundraiser for your school or organization!  (Can you tell that the countdown to school starting is on in our home??)

System of Services

A big thank you to the Morgan County System of Services for using The Plaid Paddock to design and print their shirts.  I was not familiar beforehand with this organization, but have learned quite a bit in the  past few weeks!  Their website is:   www.morgancountysos.com  Basically they work with the juvenile court system and youth services to provide great classes and services to at risk groups.  Some of the stuff they do includes parenting classes, ged prep, anger management, and running the Hands Home (which was started with help from Junior League of Morgan County - another great service organization!)

Beginnings

Welcome to The Plaid Paddock!  We are excited and  a little nervous to be launching a blog, a website, and growing our business all at the same time.  But, there is no time like the present - so let's get this party started! 

The Plaid Paddock started over a love of all things equine and all things monogrammed.  Not so strange if you think about it - ponies and their owners all like to look great! 

We will be bringing you lots of fun new ideas for monogramming, embroidery, applique, and digital printing.  This blog will showcase new jobs and their outcomes.  We might vent a bit, praise a bit, and just have a good time together.
